Today’s Dilemma: When Is the Right Time for a Christmas Tree?

This year, we’re facing a rare dilemma: when is the right time to put up a Christmas tree? Normally, we don’t think about it, but this year feels different. After all, shops have had Christmas decorations out since September.

It’s interesting to see how holidays have been wrapped in a capitalistic coat, slowly losing their original image in our eyes. I love this season, it brings warmth, coziness, reflection, and nostalgia, but it’s hard not to notice how early it’s creeping in.

We’re aware that the climate is changing, but somehow the seasons themselves haven’t moved… yet the holidays seem to arrive earlier every year. Halloween decorations appear in August, Christmas decorations in September… maybe we just need more holidays so capitalism can thrive, be happy, and fed…
